At the end of 2012, as I was heading into holidays, I found myself really looking forward to the break. I was in great need of quiet time and rest, especially after coming off of a big spurt of highly productive and creative time in the last quarter. With the launch of the new website, client work, the usual year-end business wrap-up, planning for 2013, and the events surrounding December 21st, it was a highly energetic and transformational time for Uplift.
I am so grateful for these opportunities, for holidays, for time with family and friends, for the moments when we can unplug from the everyday and bring a sense of renewed energy back to our lives. I spent a lot of time, as did many, enjoying family and friends…but the time that I consciously took for myself was regenerative. Quiet meditations, daily yoga practice, spending time in nature…these created the space I needed to receive my intentions 2013.
When I returned to the plugged-in world, I felt bombarded with social media—the “fresh start”, a “fresh you”, resolutions, 3 steps, 7 steps, goals, success, “did you read the latest book by…”, and so many I did, I did, I did. It takes some time away to realize that we are surrounded by information, overloaded to the point of exhaustion and overwhelm. Very often we don’t even realize this is the case until something breaks down. We miss the subtle cues that tell us, “Slow down, Breathe, Rest, Be”.
2013 is going to be another big year for Uplift, with some amazing things happening in the Spring. So I took time to ease into the year, knowing that my plans are huge and that if I didn’t listen to my own natural rhythms, I would find myself swept away with their enormity. I always say, ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’, and sometimes, actually most times, successful action presents itself in ‘baby steps’. It’s not about winning the race; it’s not about being the fastest; it’s not about changing the game. For me, it’s all about our quality of life and how we measure and define our success. In fact, we already have everything we need… and much more.
How do YOU measure and define success?
I love words and I see their power when I work with them in mantras. Funny enough, the word that kept arising toward the beginning of this year is SUCCESS. So I played around with this word and defined what it meant for my business and for me. Success, for me and for Uplift, is a strong, grounded feeling from within. It feels like peace, contentment, joy, calmness, and happiness all at once—the understanding that I am doing what I am meant to do, sharing with the world, guiding, and leading others on their path.
Success is taking a business idea and watching it evolve as it takes on a life of its own. It is witnessing the impact made in the lives of others. Success takes takes time, hard work, and courage.
Success is not found in a book promising a 7-step to a successful life or career.
Now, here’s the wonderful news…
Take the weight of your shoulders. If you have fallen off the resolution wagon or haven’t met the goal you set or even set any for that matter, know that the change is already inside of you. The key here is to invite your intuition to guide you and acknowledge your true gifts. They are waiting to Rise Up and Be Celebrated.
“You already are who you need to be to fulfill your life’s dharma. All you need to do is focus your mind, connect to your most heartfelt desires, and channel the divine energy within”. ~ Kelly McGonigal
Pay attention to the cues and hints, those thoughts you immediately let go saying, ‘I can’t do that! How silly, I’m too young, too old, too this or that’. I am saying you can. Set your intentions this year, but do it on your own clock by connecting with your own natural rhythms because the guidance shows up quite naturally when we’re ready for it. Be inspired by the energy of a fresh new start and be mindful of what methods and modalities work best for you. Then allow the knowledge to rise up from an authentic place. I rely and work with the spiritual realm. It’s a trusted source where I can allow my intuition to guide me and I find great benefit from this, as do my clients.
When we arrive at this place within, when we stand in our truth, the fireworks explode. When we are on our own time, creating the space to do what we are here do, there is no right or wrong direction. Trust in your own powerful Self and Be.
Success is humility, an honour, a privilege. Success is the gratitude that comes as we heal. It doesn’t happen overnight.
“Successful people know how energy works. They know how to focus the various kinds of energy—money, time, physical vitality, creativity, among others—to convert their ideas, dreams & visions into reality. And they know how to do this with ease. They have realized their particular dreams, gone through their personal challenges, vanquished their individual dragons or fears. While they may not always be successful in their ventures, in general they have mastered how to use energy, and particularly how to use the energy of money.”~ Maria Nemeth, Ph.D.
My wish for you throughout 2013 is to Be Yourself and nurture that person. Connect with your own source, trust your intuition, and walk into your Destiny. Define your own success.
The mantra that I am working with to begin this year is The Ganesh Mantra. It removes obstacles and blesses one with success and prosperity. You’ll also notice here, that my website has been blessed by Ganesh as well as a few garnets for success and prosperity. Both elegantly placed in the bottom left hand corner…watching over this great new year.
I look forward to meeting you along the path. If you need a little extra support, get in touch. We can walk together.
