Do What You Love

I read a great article recently that asked:

If you’re really passionate about what you do, but it’s not going to make you a lot of money, should you still do it?”

This is a great question and I believe the answer is a resounding, YES!

Our paths are about personal exploration, taking the opportunity to make small sequencing steps towards our dreams. That’s life.

We are often too quick to make assumptions about the future which, when it comes down to it, we know is unknown. For most of us, finding our passion is not about taking ‘the leap’, it’s about taking ‘baby steps’.

I’ve been working with several clients over the past couple of years who have turned big ideas into amazing reality.  This process has been incredible to watch, guide, advise, and support. What I’ve witnessed in these clients is the ability to be nimble, present, open, and fearless in themselves. These, combined with a supportive environment and (of course!) the right timing, we have the ability to do wondrous things.

I believe we can all benefit and be inspired by stories like these. I invite you to share yours. If you’re thinking about taking the next step, or know it’s time to change, here are a few themes that I’ve observed, that I’m hoping might just resonate with you to take action:

Be clear about this being what you want to do. Are you following your passion and strengths?

Take small steps toward making this happen. Be okay with not knowing with what lies ahead.

Be as financially organized as possible. Don’t discount the worth of support from family and friends (or through other finance vehicles).  Build a solid foundation. Try not to be driven by the principle of scarcity, but by the idea of fueling abundance.

Find support by building a solid network of people who can help you move ahead.

Clear out things or distractions that aren’t working for you. By creating physical and mental space for the new to emerge, you are making a loud, clear statement of your intentions.

Being present to what is arising in and around you.

Find a good partner (I’m not talking about the romantic relationship kind) who fills in your weak points and clearly communicates with you.

Play to your strengths. What are you really good at? Do what you love. Fuel your passion.  Be honest here.

Ask yourself (and answer) the ‘Big Why’ question. Call it your businesses Greater Purpose. Why you are doing what it is you are doing and how others can benefit from it? The answer to this question will help you clarify and plan.

All of the things that you’ve done in your life so far compliment what it is you are doing today. Build on your own growth and development plan.

Be open and nimble.

Be fearless.

Commit to making things happen.

Lead the way! Your enthusiasm and positivity are contagious.

Most importantly, BELIEVE and follow your heart. Trust in its voice and speak from there.

And, as I always say, ‘Trust in the Process’

I see my clients shining. They are happy, fulfilled, and satisfied. It is such a joy to be a part of this highly creative process. For me, this is what I love to do — help others on their path, guide them in seeing their opportunities, connect the dots, and co-create a solid foundation, platform, and vision for their success.

This is not to say that you have to take a big leap down the path of entrepreneurship, but the point of life is to do the things that make you happy…even if only for a little bit each day. If you fuel what you love, you may be surprised where you end up. After all, when we focus on our dreams — straight from the heart and with good intentions — they naturally grow.

Enjoy the ride, life is short, live it. Do what you love. Be Happy.

Thank you Paula, for this beautiful and inspirational article.

The «fearless» resonates in me, as I strongly believe that fear serves a place to point me in the directions where I need to move forward in my life : when something scares me, I try to face it in full awareness, make sure that I am supported by like minded people to help me go through the process… and this when the magic happens… this is when growth takes place. So, before you are fearless, acknowledge that you might be very full, embrace it, and transcend it.

It will never cease to amaze me how our potential for expansion is unlimited…

    Love and Light,

    Julie
